Barcelo San Jose Hotel - San Jose (San Jose)

The restaurant here was nice for breakfast, we both ordered freshly cooked dishes.

Had a perfectly pleasant stay on vacation, everything was perfect. The luxurious and cozy room had all the necessary facilities, a mini-fridge-bar, a seating area and a work desk. The bed was comfy and the bedroom was comfortable. Its location was magnificent and secure, to the Musoc bus station. Besides, we were just off restaurant, San Jose and a lovely garden to walk in the morning. No complaints, the hotel met expectations.

The hotel has the optimal distance to the airport and is nevertheless quietly situated. The shuttle service is free of charge. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and the beds comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It was very rich with a large selection.

The location is central. 10 minutes drive to the airport, it is located to the volcano area. The staff are helpful and genuinely helpful, giving their best to make the stay a very good experience.

honestly no complaint. possibly the best and good stay on vacation. good sleep in a nice bed, new-fashioned and generous-sized room. absolutely perfect and nice location for visiting bars and restaurants. enjoyed perfect area. the restaurant was cheap, for breakfast.

The staff was partly in a bad mood and not very helpful. There were a few exceptions that were particularly attentive to this. In some places a renovation would certainly do good.

The breakfast room was not acceptable. I arrived at 07:30 and all tables were occupied or not yet set. This would probably not have happened if we had had breakfast earlier or later. A little loud because of car traffic (truck)

The pool area was stunning for relaxation, but constant staff issues and loud hallways disrupted our peace.

I loved the attentiveness of the staff, from the guy at the reception desk, who encouraged my practicing espanol, to Ricardo at the tour desk, who helped me customize my stay in Costa Rica, from tours, transportation, phone calls, and just plain friendliness, to the grounds keepers, Mario and Baltismo (? cant remember name), who showed us all the greenery in the gardens. The gardens were gorgeous, the pool was being remodeled, just about done. The location was safe, clean, non-touristy, close to the airport with a free shuttle, an impressive breakfast buffet of endless options. My boyfriend raved about the food the whole time. We walked through the gardens, out the property and into the surrounding area to explore a neighborhood, some interesting architecture, and a local playground/park.Our room was clean, comfy, modern, and room service was quick and tasty. I have no complaints. This was my second stay at the Barcelo San Jose Palacio. First time was business, this time was vacation, both times were above and beyond satisfying.

There was nothing I didn't like about the Barcelo. The price was fabulous, as were the staff, food, amenities, grounds, and location.

The suite was excellent! The key card security prevents elevator use to other floors. Good health club facility. Premiere Club on 6th floor was excellent! Food, drinks, staff and overall environment is top flight! Nice bar, friendly staff, nice live and recorded music for dancing. Large pool well maintained pool and area.

Other than fruit and coffee variety, Buffett options are boring and blah. Ala Carte options are no better. Phone system is rip off. Four rings and you're charged even if no one answers. Exchange rate does not change with the market or daily. No enforcement of no smoking areas.

The location, the staff, the service and the food were all truly excellent.

The gym doesn't do justice to the rest of the hotel. The machines are old and therefore dangerous, some out of service, etc. An upgrade is desperately needed since most guests like to excercise and there is no where to run/walk safely around there.
